Sylvia Hale, Greens MLC

If there is one right this society should cherish, it is the right to protest and speak out against injustice.

Syliva Hale Speaking

“The Greens are part of a growing voice that calls for community-based empowering solutions that redistribute wealth equitably. We recognise the important role of government intervention in the economy and public ownership of resources and institutions. We recognise that global challenges require both local and global solutions.” Sylvia Hale.

Sylvia has worked with prison officers and prisoners in the fight against privatisation of NSW jails. Sylvia has played a key role in establishing independent publishing in Australia.

Dr Shirley Fitzgerald, a City of Sydney Historian and Adjunct Professor at UTS , will introduce the life and times of Juanita Nielsen.

MC: Greens Warringah Councillor Conny Harris

Juanita Nielsen, an active campaigner against high-rise development in Kings Cross, disappeared in 1975 at the height of a campaign that brought scrutiny unwanted by the developers. Her murderers have never been brought to justice; the case has now been re-opened by NSW Police. It is widely believed she was murdered for her active political stand.
