Olympic Park Trees Destroyed for V8 Race

Tuesday 21 July 2009

The government has commenced cutting down scores of mature trees along the main public boulevards at Olympic Park to prepare the site for a V8 car race later in the year. “The loss of these beautiful trees demonstrates clearly the sort of vandalism to which this government will resort when it wants to make money for its corporate mates,” said Sylvia Hale NSW Greens MP and planning spokesperson.

“This is an award-winning and much celebrated public site that has seen many of this cities most famous and popular celebrations.”

“It is now being vandalized for the sake of a car race that should have been held at the existing racing track at Eastern Creek,” Ms Hale said.
